Once the court acknowledges his paternity he will be responsible for supporting your child. He will also be entitled to sharing time with him/her and unless detrimental to the child, he will also be able to assist in making major decisions that can affect the child's well being.

Make sure to respond to the Petition within 20 days.

Time sharing (visitation) will be based on several factors. These factors include but are not limited to: the child's age and needs, his prior history of not spending time with the child, the distance away you reside from him, whether he has a criminal background or whether there have been issues of domestic violence in his past etc.

Given the importance of these issues I would suggest you meet with an attorney at least for a consultation. The attorney will be able to ask more specific questions and provide you with more direction.

Feel free to call/contact my office for a consultation.

Filing suit for paternity will establish if this person is the bio dad. If so, it will depend on other factors as to visitation. If you need assistance, please contact my office for an appointment,. 904-997-1031
