claiming child on taxes

i pay child support. am i allowed to claim this on my tax return.

am i allowed to alternate with my ex-wife on claiming our son on my tax return?

The first part of your question is better suited for a CPA,but my answer would be maybe.

The second part of your question will depend on the final order on your divorce. Depending on what the court ruled on will determine whether you or your wife can claim your child on the returns. If the order makes no mention of who gets to claim then you should seek an agreement with your ex-spouse and get it approved by the court to protect yourself.
