Does cohabitation voilate the law in Florida, in order

to be declared a dependent on income taxes

No. If you provide the necessary support for the person, the person does not earn more than $2,900.00 yr, the person lives in your household for at least 1/2 the year, the person is a U.S., mexican, or canadian citizen, then you may claim the person as a dependent although you are not married to that person.
