Co-mingling of funds
Grandpa dies leaving grandson $10M. Child's pa takes $ & adds $10M buying child a $20M CD.
Years later parents divorce & ma wants half of the $20M because funds were comingled. Pa says if anything, ma is entitled to only $5M.

If the money was left to the child rather than his parents, it should not even be subject to any distribution in a divorce because the child is the rightful owner of the inheritance rather than his parents. Depending on how the inheritance was bequethed by the grandfather at his death, the additional money made from that principal by investing in a CD would also likely also be found to belong to the child with the father treated as a trustee until he turned 18 years old.
