Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Communication with non-custodial parent

If I can not get along with the non-custodial parent and/or his significant other can I request that all communication between us be done through mail. I will keep communication lines open between non-custodial parent and child but I dont want any interaction between them and myself. Do I have a right to request this and how should I do it?

Re: Communication with non-custodial parent

Based on your inquiry providing limited information, these points should be considered. Does the Final Judgment, including any marital settlement agreement, prohibit such restriction on communication? If not, you may make such reasonable arrangements which are in the best interest of the child. So long as the communications between parent and child are not affected and the parents are able to communicate regarding decisions which affect the welfare of the child, such restrictions on communication can be adopted. If specific prohibition of such restrictions are contained in the judgment (unlikely), a modification of the judgment approved by the court would be required. Obtaining the consent of the father to such arrangement is recommended. Use of an attorney to facilitate such arrangement is strongly advised.
