Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Would like to know the concequences behind stoping alimony ($800 a moth) to my ex wife.

I have lost my job and migrated to a different country for work oportunity, but for the mean wile, it looks like it will be no time soon i'll be able to make the court mandated payment.

All i have left to go is $3200 dollars to complete the 12 month obligation.

I can't affort to go back to the states and spend time in the court sistem to try and fix this.

I need to know what is the worse that can happen if this moneys are not pay, say one day i deside to come back to the states or my legal migration application that is on process for me to become an Australian citicen.

If you only have 12 months left to pay, I suggest you do so. However, two things can happen. You will be held in contempt of court and when you come to the states - you may find yourself in jail. Secondly, she may have the order domesticated in Australia and then you will face their laws. Of yes, she could just have a judgment placed against you with interest.
