What are the consequences of contacting a child you gave up for adoption before the agreed upon age?

Leave the child alone. You gave her up. Let her be raised by the family that adopted her. Don't interfere and hurt her.

Legally there are no consequences of contacting an adopted child. One word of advice, though, from someone who is involved in many adoption cases: if your child is young, know that one of the greatest fears a child has is that the biological parent will one day appear and take them away from their new, adoptive family. It's not necessarily a rational fear for an adopted child to have, but it's one I've heard from adopted kids many times.
