Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Contempt of court issue

Not really sure what catagory this falls into...but here goes...

My ex and I are divorced...and are not actually speaking...but recently I have found out that he attempted to give my Daughter a precription that was not hers...She takes ADHD Medication...she ran out...I was not notified...he did not check with a Doctor or me about giving her someone else's script..From what I understand the script that she was given was one of his other childrens ADHD medications...Same medication just a lower dose than hers...But the fact is it was not her prescription...ADHD Medication is also a controlled substance...Can I file contempt charges on him? I might add that he is a Deputy...don't know if this will get him into trouble with his job as well...What should I do? He has tried something similar over the past summer and I did let him know that he should consult a Doctor before playing with her medication...not sure what to do but am very upset over this development....

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

Giving a lower doseage of the same medication was probably a rational choice rather than not giving any medication at all. Reaching a doctor has gotten increasingly difficult in today's day and age and he might not have been able to.

If no harm was done, you might want to rethink your position before you take a drastic action that might not have any merit. Ask yourself, if this happened while still happily married, what would you have thought of his actions? Most likely you would have agreed that this is a viable course of action.
