Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
What happens when counsel terminates service in the middle of litigation
I am in the middle of a divorce which has been going on for 1 1/2 year. My soon to be ex's attorney has withdrawn as his counsel for non-payment of services, along with other reasons. Does the court allow him time to obtain new counsel, if so how much time as I want this over ASAP

Generally, the Court will allow an attorney to withdraw under these circumstances, and will normally give someone 30 days to find a new attorney. Howver, these are not absolutes and every case is different. Are you represented by an attorney? If so, your attorney is much more in tune to what might happen in your case, and that's the person to whom you should be asking questions. If you are not represented by an attorney, there is nothing preventing you from taking action to get the divorce going.
