Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have a court order from New Jersey giving me Grandparents Visitation. NJ held jurisdiction for one year at which time Florida was the have jurisdiction. Does this mean the order is void? I have to file paperwork because the Father took my visitation away after the year and I don't know whether to file "Motion for Contempt/Enforcement or "Suppplemental Petition to Modify Parenting Pla/Time Sharing".

Thank you for your time...

Jayne

YOu need to domestice the Order here in Florida in order for it to be enforceable.

The first requirement is Domestication of the New Jersey Order which would allow for you to enforce it here in Florida. Please be mindfully that in order to have the Order Domesticated a formal hearing must be held. After the Order is domesticated then you will be able to hold the father in contempt.

As a gernal rule Florida does not recognize Grandparents rights, specifically in a case where the jurisdiction is in Florida. If the contempt was filed in a Florida court I would speculate the local judge will not enforce the grandparents rights provisions. If the northern state still has jurisdiction the order may be enforced by the NJ judge.
