Re: getting a court order to put my child in a boot camp

Florida no longer has a government-funded boot camp program. Though some similar programs exist, Florida's four boot camp programs were closed after a juvenile died in one in Bay County. The newer programs don't offer nearly the same disciplinary component--especially in terms of physical discipline--that the old ones did.

Even when they existed, there was no private right to get a court order to place your child in one. A child could only be placed in one through the delinquency (criminal) program or, rarely, through the dependency (DCF) program. In other words, you couldn't "send" your child there, your child had to be "sentenced" to boot camp.

Private boot camps exist in Florida and throughout the U.S., but, of course, they are considered private schools, and you'll have to pay for them.

They don't exist any more.

If you child is that incorrigable, you may want to contact the Dept. of Juvenile Justice and have them petition him to Court as "A Child In Need Of Services."
