Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Court rules

My ex boyfriend and I are in court for paternity and other relief. He has a paternity test from another court he wants to admit into evidence. He has stated he does not need to show me a cipy, that he is going to give it to the judge at the hearing. Is he able to do this? As you an c i do not have a lawyer.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

This might be a good time to consider hiring a lawyer for such an important matter as a paternity suit. It is probably the single most important matter you have faced. If you lose, you will not get child support for the balance of the time the child is under 18 which based on the age of the child could amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. This may be a perfect example of pennywise and pound foolish.

As to your question, you can file for discovery to request a copy of the paternity test that he intends to introduce at the hearing. He is required to provide it to you. If he does not, you can ask the court to strike it and not allow it into evidence.
