Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am a custodial parent and child lives with me 100% of the time. I will be eligible to retire later this year and if I do, I will only make 60% of my current salary. My employer is encouraging folks to retire early and offered buyouts.

Will a court look at me unfavorably?

Do I have to file for a modification? What would happen if I did not?

Do you mean modfication of child support? Yes, you would qualify to have support modified based on income reduction, and I don't see any reason the judge would look unfavorably on you for filing. It's also okay if you don't file, but your child support will never change. There is a free child support calculator at www.flcourts.org, where you can find out what your support will change to.
