Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Custody of Adopted Son

I have a 15 year old adopted son. I have to move out of state, but I want to let him stay here to finish school. I would leave him with a well-trusted close family friend, and give this friend a temporary guardianship to take care of my son. I get an adoption allowance from the state, and I would like to be able to forward this to my friend to use to take care of my son. I want to know if I can do this legally and not get into any kind of trouble for 'abandonment' or anything else. Any ideas?

You need to file a petition with the Circuit Court, Family Division for permission. Good luck.
