Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
I am currently in a custody battle for my three little girls, who I had no choice but to leave with my abusive ex husband. I have a good amount of evidence against him, including police records of domestic disturbance and intoxication etc. but I am wondering how much weight a sworn affidavit from a previous employer or family member would carry in the Duval County court house in such a case. Please help, I am doing this without a lawyer and this is extremely difficult. He has kept me from my girls for over a year and a half now...

You need to get a lawyer. The lawyer, for instance, will explain to you that affidavits are almost never admissible in court. You risk your little girls' future by going without a lawyer.
Hello: I just read your question and the one response. As you are probably aware, there are a lot of issues involved in a child custody case. As such, it would take a consultation to fully explain the law and the procedures.
You do not specify as to what issue the Affidavit would be used for. If it goes to a relevant issue, why can't you provide live testimony? You have to get the other side to agree to let an Affidavit into evidence.
