Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Getting custody quickly
My ex called 3weeks ago and said she could no longer handle our 14yr old daughter. She moved in with me, my wife and 3 other children that day. I want full legal custody. I work offshore 30/15. My current wife stays home full time. My ex is divorcing her 3rd husband, lives in a hotel, works odd hours (days and nights) and has a drinking problem. My daughter has not had any supervision in a long time. At 13 she was seeing a 17 year old boy. My ex bought her vodka twice in order to teach her not to drink. My daughter has been shoplifting, smoking and staying out until all hours of the night. We are still paying child support to the ex and she is refusing to return any or buy my daughter anything. Do I stand a good chance of getting custody? If so I need to do this quickly because raising four kids and paying my ex child support while the child lives in my house is putting a financial strain on us. How quickly could this be accomplished and what is the best route?

Re: Getting custody quickly
Retain a family law attorney immediatlely. The file must be reviewed and modification of the prior order obtained. A hearing can be scheduled within a month or 2.Your ex's cooperation will help. Good luck.
