Custody rights of unwed, unstable father....
I'm about 8 months pregnant, both the father and myself turned 18 in Feb, and we have never been and never will be married. I have been told that in the state of Florida if the father and I have never been married then the only base right he has is to pay child support, if I ask for it. He can fight and demand more but I can fight back, thus taking it to court and a judge. Is this true that I may be able to get child support without giving him visitation or at least very little and supervised or something? I have some proof that his mental state and ability to care for a child is questionable, does this help me out?

No, it is not right. The father has all the same rights as any other father including the possibility of being the primary residential parent, share parental control, visitation, etc.
You may wish to consult with an attorney to discuss the rights of each party rather than speak with friends on the street.
