Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Custody
I have had my son for over five years. My estranged wife lives in California. She has never paid for my son's expenses. We were never divorced and no custody paperwork has been filed. I want to file for custody at this point. I live in Florida - how do I do this?

Re: Custody
You'll need an attorney to handle this or you will probably make a mess that will be more costly to fix. You can file for divorce because you have custody already.

If you are going to go to court and file for custody, you should just file for divorce and include the custody and child support issues therein. It can all be done at one time with little or no additional cost. You should engage an attorney to work with you in order to do this properly.
