Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

We have had custody of our 6 yr old grandson for 3 yrs. His parents haven't shown up for their weekly visits in 10 months. Before that,it was sporadic. I would like to know if their would be advantages to adopting him permenantly. We live in Florida. Also wondering if we did adopt,would the state give him any benefits?

YOu could force the parents to pay you child support. Other than that the child is eligible for medicaid . I suggest you contact an adoption attorney. A major benefit to you would be the additional exemption for taxes and head of household.
