Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

my dad's gf left the house, she took all the stuff she wanted and left.

the next day she comes knocking at the door saying she forgot stuff.

my dad didn't open it cause she does not live here.

police arrive and knowingly come into our home without a warrant knowing she broke a window to get into the house.

my dad explain she does not live here anymore and has no proof of residency.

they say she lived here for more than 30 days and still has stuff here so technically she still lives here and she can break a window to get into her home if she has too.

but now my dad is stuck with the broken window and the police just stood by.

was that legal?

does that mean she can come tomorrow and break another window if she has to to pickup a shirt she forgot?

No this is not legal. Call the commander at the police station and report the offense. If she wishes to enter the house she must present a court order. I suggest you file an official eviction notice on her since she was there and also file damages in the eviction notice.
