Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My daughter and her boyfriend from England had a baby together almost 1 year ago. They are now breaking up and unsure about how to settle child supoort; He is not a US citizen and here on a student visa. He is financially supported by his father, who is stating he will not pay support.

the grandfather is not responsible for the sins of the son. However, the father of the child is responsible for child support. The court will impute minimum wage as a dollar figure and set an amount that he will be responsible to pay.

You don't really "settle" child support in Florida. It's calculated under Florida's child support guidelines system, and it's based on the incomes of the parties, the amount of time spent with the child, healthcare costs, daycare costs, and a couple of other factors. If he leaves the U.S. there are a couple a good treaties with the U.K. that will assist her in ensuring that she continues to receive support.
