Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My daughter went to the emergency room alone. The hospital contacted my ex-wife, who gave consent over the phone. My daughter put my name and social security number on the forms, but her own home address. She was 17 at the time, four days before her 18th birthday and was living on her own, renting a room from a friend. I recieved a call from the hospital collections wanting payment on the bill. Because I did not give consent I tried to have my name taken off the bill and the bill put in my ex-wifes name. We have a divorce decree that makes me responsible for half of all bills not covered by the insurance I am responsible for carrying on my daughter. The last bill I received, my ex refused to pay half of. Since her half was around $75 I just paid the whole thing, it would have been too much trouble to pursue. This bill is around $1,100. I am in Jacksonville Florida. The hospital admitted to having made a mistake in allowing my name to be written in on the forms without me being present or having given consent and said that they would take my name off the bill and place it in my ex-wifes name. When I asked for that in writing they changed their position and told me that they would not take my name off the bill. My concern is that my ex-wife will refuse to pay her half and that I will have to take her to court to force her to do so. If the bill is in her name I will pay my half no problem. What should/can I do?

Take your wife to court for contempt. Pay the bill and show the court you have paid the full amount. Have her reimburse you and your attorney fees.
