Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

i have a daughter who is 11 almost 12 and her father hasnt been around at all. he lives nearby and has a drug and violence arrest record a mile long, i would like to see if there is anything i can do to get his right revoked?

You would need to ask the court to do so. If he is uninvoilved and not around, though, why bother?

You can have his parental rights terminated.

The easiest way would probobly be to have the court award you "sole parental responsibility" This would give you all of the decision making authority over the child. Having a parent's parental rights totally revoked is an expensive and complicated process and is only granted in the most extreme of circumstances. Florida law changed in 2008 and allows for three different divisions of parental responsibility; shared, ultimate, and sole parental responsibility. If we can show that it is in the best interest of the child to do so, we may be able to give you "sole" parental responsibility. Hope this helps. Good luck.
