Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
My daughter passed away in November. I brought her child home with me, transferred him to a school in my area and has been taking care of him. I also petitioned for custody of him also. His father has always been allowed to have him on weekends and holidays as he did when his mother was living. He never paid child support and was estranged from my grandson for a year prior to my daughter's death. He took him two weeks ago and refused to bring him back. I have a lawyer. He put out a pickup order for my grandson. Nothing has happened. My question is what is involved in a p[ckup order? What are the steps/procedures involved?

Your attorney went to a Judge, after filing papers, and requested the Judge order the child returned to you. The order is served by your sheriff and the child is in custody until you pick it up.
