Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

My daughter

My step father is trying to get my daughter over the weekends .I say no he gets mad he says hes going to take me to court.I dont approve of the way he acts about my daughter.He is to possive over her.Is this possible?

A step grand parent does not have the right to any visitation.

You say he is your step-father? Unless he adopted you, he would not be her grandfather and therefore has no legal rights. Generally, grandparents have visitation rights in Florida. If these situations do end up in court, the parents objecting to such visitation have to show that it is somehow detrimental to your child to have a relationship with the grandparent.

I don't see where he has any rights! Your mother, as the child's grandmother, may have some right to visit with the child unless the visit would not be safe and it would not be determental to the child's well-being.

Why would he be so possessive? Are you suggesting something more. Perhaps you should take your daughter for some counseling with his possessiveness in mind.
