Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Death by Suicide

I'm 19 years old and my father recently committed suicide. He does not live with me. The authorities contacted his mother in TX and she took care of the burial, and said that he didn't have any possessions to give me. She handed me $15.00 that was in his wallet, that is all I got. He may or may not have any possessions, but how do I find out, he lived in a different city than I did and he is divorced from my mom and another woman. I know he has a piece of property jointly with an aunt of his, but don't remember the aunts name. What can I do, who do I contact, and why wasn't I told about the death before they called his mom?

Re: Death by Suicide

From what I read in your question, I don't believe you really had a nuturing relationship with your father, which may account for why you were not told. Did anyone know where you were? They called, wh os they?

This real estate you are talking about. If you know where it is located you can go to the County Recorder's Office or the County Appraiser's Office and look it up under his name.

You might be better off keeping in touch with your relatives.
