What is the best defence to a motion to dismiss a child custody petition based on the fact that the mother lives temporarily outside the US?

I assume this is a jurisdictional motion. These motions are very complex, and you shouldn't handle it without a lawyer. There are many, many answers to your question, depending on your circumstances, what contacts the mother has to Florida, and many other questions.
