Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Hello. My dilemma is as follows:

My family and I lived in the US for almost five years with green cards. Right before being there just long enough for us to get a citizenship, my mother and I returned to our home country. My father also came back for a number of weeks and my parents got divorced. He then returned to the US and we stayed here. He got his citizenship. My mom did not.

I have now found out that he has not let anyone know of the divorce in the US. It is my understanding that there are a couple of advantages that he has when the law is under the impression that he is still married. My question is, IF THE GOVERNMENT WERE TO FIND OUT THAT HE HAS BEEN DIVORCED FOR THE PAST 5 OR MORE YEARS AND HE DID NOT LET IT BE KNOWN, WHAT PROBLEMS WOULD HE HAVE?????

Thank you.
