Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

How to discontinue Alimony payments

I'm writing for my husband. He divorced his wife of 20 years in '94. He was roped into paying alimony and took all the family debts in order to get out of the marriage. He since retired early to due to consolidation of the company and alimony takes all but $76. of his retirement pay. She gets 40% of his retirement on top of this for the rest of her life. He also has his kids student loans for $100,000. We are bankrupt as of 2004 and he went to attorney in Fla that sent him to mediation and he was coerced into just reducing the alimony but still having to pay it. The above figures are the current situation. His ex has a good job and makes more money than we do and has since before they were divorced. She also got their $300,000 house in the deal. What we want to know is if there are any rights for him? Is there anyway to stop alimony payments?

I agree with Mr. Slater.

There may also be some legal maximum percentage that may be withheld from his retirement pay.
