Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divirce

my wife and I have drawn up mutual separation/divroce agreement. we have 2 children ages 10 and 12 and 1 piece of real estate. simply put, we agreed she would quitclaim the house to me and I would pay her a lump sum as her share of the equity. we are both teachers and have equal salaries. we would like to ''share custody'' and waive child support. this is a VERY amiicable situation. could it actually work this simple? would a judge honor our decisions? how much would a divrce like this cost?

Re: Divorce

A divorce might be that simple but then again it might not. There are forms available that were developed by the Florida Bar that you can obtain from your local courthouse.

I do not recommend this as the proper course of action to follow, however. A divorce involving the ownership of real property and minor children is a complex matter that can rarely be resolved properly using "standard" forms. This is a serious legal matter and you should engage the services of a competent family lawyer to at least review the documents you have drafted and are about to sign. Remember what they say about a little knowledge.
