You have to have been a resident of Florida for more than six months. You have to file a petition for dissolution of marriage in the circuit court in your county. It is best if both parties agree to get a divorce and sign an agreement. They have to agree on all issues in the matter for it to be an uncontested divorce. If just one issue is not agreed upon it will be a contested divorce and will cost much more. Child support, time-sharing, division of marital assets, and the division of marital obligations are the main issues. There can be more issues.
