Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce -- collection of awarded items

How long does someone have to collect the items awarded in a divorce?

In short how long do we have to hold on to items taking space in our house? Is there a process of notification before the items can be disposed of?

It's been a little less than a year since the judgment and despite coming to the house every other week she has not asked to get those items.

Re: Divorce -- collection of awarded items

There is no formal process. We generally recommend to clients that they send a certified letter to the person saying that the items be picked up at a mutually convenient time or the items will be sold at a garage sale. The proceeds will then be sent to the person, less a reasonable cost for the time a trouble of the sale. Anything not sold will be kept, tossed, or given away.
