Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divorce decree

divorce decree states my ex-husband shall maintain a 10 year term life insurance policy in the amount of $250,000 naming wife as beneficiary. Instead My ex husband has purchased basic life insurance naming his children as benificiaries. I am included only for 50% of an optional $500,000 Accidental death and dissmembership add on to the life insurance policy.

What should I do?

Re: divorce decree

Your husband apparently is violating the terms of the final judgment. You have two options: 1. do nothing, or 2. take him back to court to get the judge to compel him to abide by the final judgment or face penalties.

Option 1 is easy and free. Option 2 is not necessarily so. You'll have to decide how important it is, and whether taking him back to court will jeopardize any goodwill that you have managed to build since your divorce - remember, you need to deal with this guy until all of your kids are over 18 and out of high school.
