Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divorce

my husband of 21 years disappeared for one year. I found him living with another woman. They had a joint bank account. I found a paper where they had taken several cruises, bought cars together, a camper, etc. He never had sex with me. He had a prescription for viagra, which he never disputed he did not have sex with her. As a result of this separation, I lost everything, even my car. My son had a scholarship for college. Because he did not have money for room and board, plus expenses, which his dad coult well afford, the son dropped out of college. My husband suggested we live together but he keeps his girlfriend. I am so financially drained, I would almost accept anything. I do not know if my heart could stand that. I work a low paying job, just for insurance, I have Lupus. I just want to cover my head and die, if it weren't for my 20 year old son, I would. We had a premarriage aggreement that if we got divorced I would get nothing. My husband is a well known political figure. Is there anything I can do? He is 70 years old. Should I stick it out? I would lose a pension from the state, if he dies, if I divorce him?

Re: divorce

Don't lose hope. Speak to a lawyer, who can then advise you on how you may fare in a divorce. A situation such as yours deserves more than just a quick answer on a free website from a lawyer you've never met.

For instance, one thing you should probably do is speak to a lawyer about the validity of your premarital agreement. If, for instance, it was signed very near the time you got married, you may be able to have it invalidated, which may mean you could get alimony.

You may have more options than you think.
