Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce, Insurance

My friend is getting a divorce and her husband dropped her insurance durring the process (which is still going). I though that was against the law. Is there some legal action she can take?

She should file a motion to be reinstated on his insurance. Many judges in Florida issue automatic orders in all divorce cases saying that spouses should not be dropped from insurance. The order may have been automatically printed by the clerk when the divorce was filed or mailed to her (or her lawyer) by the judge.

Even if her judge doesn't automatically issue these types of orders, judges heavily frown on insurance being cancelled in the middle of a divorce.

Sure, in the divorce case, the husband can be required to maintain coverage on the wife, unless she is working and can get insurance through her employment. She'll have to ask the Court for it or put it in the property settlement.
