Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce

I am interested in finding out how I can protect my savings and mutual funds in the event of a divorce. This is money that I earned from working and saved to use for further college education. Will my husband be able to legally take half of that, even if it is to be used for my financial well-being?

Re: Divorce

Anything that has been acuired during a marriage is subject to being divided in a divorce. Just as your husband earned money and supported (hopefully) your family during this time, allowing you to accumulate the savings that you enjoy. If you are unemployed or lacking the abiltiy to support yourself, the court could award his intest in the fund to you as "lump-sum alimony." Get a lawyer to ahelp you with this.
