Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce order disposed of in Backruptcy?

I am about to sign a settlement agreement my wifes lawyer prepared. It includes my paying half of $30,000+ in credit card debt which is in her name. Can this debt be discharged in bankruptcy court?

The debt can actually be retired by the sale of the residence, but just barley. So she wants to keep the house and stick me with half the credit card debt. There is no real advantage for me to fight this since I'd probably have to file bankruptcy anyway :-(

Great site. Very informative.

Re: Divorce order disposed of in Backruptcy?

Yes, by her, as a credit card debt, or by you, as a judgment debtor, if you sign the agreement.
