Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce

I had previously retained and atty to work on my divorce however, since my ex did not respond to the attorneys request to come in to his office the attorney back out. I paid $800. This was a few years ago. Would this make it easier for me to apply for a divorce and do it mysel? I am currently unemployed and would like to know if this is a possibility and if it would be faster?

Re: Divorce

It is possible to do a divorce on your own. The are even forms online for it. It's almost never easier or faster to do a divorce without a lawyer, but if you don't have the money, you don't have the money. If you have kids, though, or you think you may be entitled to alimony, you probably shouldn't file on your own. There are a lot of other situations, too, where you shouldn't file on your own, but it would take too long to list them here.
