Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divorce settlement

Prior to marriage, we had a verbal contract. If I divorce now after only 1 year (because my husband has broken the contract) am I entitled to anything? All acct's and house has both our names even though it was all his.

Re: divorce settlement

There is no such thing as a verbal prenuptial agreement. If you divorce, the general rule is that you'll be entitled to one-half of everything you've acquired since getting married and one-half of the equity in the house and one-half of the accounts. You'll have to speak with a divorce attorney to learn more specifically what you're entitled to.
