Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Divorce and a student loan

In the case of a divorce, is there any way to take my name off of the student loan I co-signed for my husband so I'm not held legally responsible when he doesn't pay it?

Re: Divorce and a student loan

Just like the situation with a mortgage, it is a contract and the lender is not going to let a responsible party out of a contract without some kind of re-negotiation.

Even if the final judgment says the ex is responsible, it does not affect the loan contract.

See the attorney who handled your divorce, or, if it was pro se, then consult with a local attorney skilled in family law, take the final judgment and see what he advises.
