Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

divorce

i am having trouble trying to fill out my divorce packet. It asks so many questions on child custody and child support. We came to a agreement on both but the paperwork does not give us that option.

I cant get free legal advise from anywhere cause i was not abused by my spouse. I was abused but not by him and that is what has caused our seperation.

Please Help

Here is a good place to start:

flabar.org. Start at the "Public Information" tab (drop down menu on the left).

Under "Public Information", go to "consumer information", then "family", then "divorce in florida" for a pdf information pamphlet.

Under "Public Information", go to "legal aid/pro bono" for a directory of legal aid clinics in your area.

If you are still having difficulty, you should retain an experiences family law attorney.

Good luck to you.

Re: divorce

If you have an extra section that you want to put into a marital settlement agreement, you are allowed to attach an additional page to the standard settlement agreement that comes with the packet. You should both sign and date the extra page that you write up. The settlement agreement that comes with packet can be very confusing.

You may want to post the extra wording that you want to add to your agreement here on this forum to make sure what you want to do is legal. Agreements, for instance, that do away with child support are generally rejected by the judge.

In fact, if you don't like the settlement agreement that comes with the packet, you are allowed to write up your own, but you may want to run it by a lawyer before you both sign it. You wouldn't want to forget something or make any mistakes.
