Should a wife of a newly found out unfaithful and controlling husband seek a divorce attorney or can they do it by themselves even though they have a home and allimony and bills to settle?

Re: Divorce
Legally, you can do everything without attorneys. However, most people do not know their rights or the rights of the other party, let alone procedures, tactics, etc. Especially in the area of alimony, I would strongly recommend consulting with an attorney before doing anything. You may make costly mistakes. It happens all the time when people try to save money in the short term. Note that having representation doesn't mean that the divorce has to be contested. On the contrary. Attorneys can help both of you come to an agreement and avoid trial. Note also that you can consult attorneys on a limited basis rather than to handle you entire case. Finally, note that an affair almost never has any effect on property settlements or alimony awards.
