divorce after 19yrs
i'm getting divorced.my three kids r with me.my spouse refuses to give us our things or my car.i am a recovered addict (1yr)and he has been using until about 2mos ago9our oldest son asked him to stop).also while married i opened credit cards in his name.he said if i try to get my car or our belongings he will have me thrown in jail and he will take the kids.they dont want to be with him.he is emotionally abusive and controlling.i dont know if it is worth trying to get our things if i would have a chance in court.

You need a lawyer.
First, the divorce court will probably establish temporary custody, usually after you complete mediation, then there isn't anything he can do about it. Then you'll be able to take your car and other things without his threats.
It's doubtful that the kids will have any say in where they get to live, but his threats about keeping your belongings from you aren't helping his custody case.
