Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am a divorced father in florida, have been paying child support for 11 plus years. the original court order included a stipulation requiring me to pay untill my son graduated high school ( 8 months after his 18th birthday ). Am I truely required to do this or does the law say I am obligated to pay until he is 18 ?

If the Final Judgment says that you have to pay until the child's graduation, then that is what you have to do. It is now standard language in Final Judgments that child support is payable through the child's graduation, even if it is after their 18th birthday.

You have to pay until the child graduates from highschool. After that time you can file a Petition to Terminate Support.

The Final Judgment controls. If your financial situation has changed (worsened) you may be able to obtain a modification (reduced support). You should sit with an attorney for a consultation and review of your documents if this is in fact the case.
