Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I have been divorced for about 8 yrs. I was awarded alimony, about 4yrs. ago my ex decided he was not going to pay anymore. Because he lives in another state there is no extraditing in this case or maybe I am wrong. I am desperately in need of some help. I took him to court over this matter and of course he didn't show. The Judge issued a writ warrant for his arrest if he came back to Florida. Of course he would not come for fear of arrest. I do not want any arrest to take place I just want what I was awarded in the Divorce. I am willing for modification if he would just respond. I have lost my job and am currently having to move in with friends for the time being until I can get a job. I hope someone can help me with this matter. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk to a lawyer in the state in which your ex is living. Most states will allow you to domsticate the Florida judgment, which will probably allow you to garnish wages or seize his house or assets or car or retirement or something. Each state is different, so I'm not sure what you'll be able to take, but you may be able to collect somehow. Don't listen to the people who say you can't forclose on houses or seize wages or retirement. That's true in Florida, but not in most states.
