One initiates a child support case by filing a petition. The type of petition depends upon the facts of the case. Along with the petition a financial affidavit must be filed. The petition and all attachments must be served on the person you are suing, and they have 20 calendar days to file a response to the petition. At least consult with a family attorney in your area.
