Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Help! Drivers License suspended with child support being paid!
My boyfriend had his drivers license suspended in Florida due to alledged non-payment of child support. His child support was directly taken from his paycheck and sent to South Carolina where it was orignated from. South Carolina said that his case was transfered to Florida. Unfortunately either state failed to inform him or his work about the transfer. Even after South Carolina told Florida that the child support was being paid, Florida still is failing to reinstate his license. Due to his work (he drives for his work more then 99% of the time) he lost his job because of Florida not reinstating his license even after south carolina informed florida that the child support was current and florida acknowledged that it was being paid. What course of action can he take? He really wants to sue the state of florida for all this mess. Due to him losing his job and because of all of this he had been extremely stressed.

Before you go and hire an attorney, contact you local State Representative. His/her office will probably be happy to help you out. They always deal with bureaucratic screw ups. If not, vote for the other guy next November.
You should schedule a formal consultation with a lawyer. A good means of obtaining an attorney referral is by contacting your State's bar association or your local county bar association. They probably have a web site and charge a nominal fee for the referral. Most attorneys either provide a free initial consultation, or charge a nominal fee.
