Legal Question in Family Law in Florida
Drug felons and children
When is it that a drug felon has more rights to my child than I have? Is there any law against it to help me or a law against law enforcement employees living with convicted felons?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
As you know, a drug felon does not have any rights to your child. Your ex does have rights though. If you feel that your child will be harmed by the contact with this person, you can file an emergency motion with the court in your local family court and ask that such contact be blocked. It will be up to you to prove that this arrangement will have a serious detrimental effect on the child and it is not just that you are unhappy with it.
