Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

I am due to deliver my baby any day now. His father became incarcerated yesterday and more than likely will not be present at the time of birth. We are not married. We have planned all along for the baby to have his last name, but can he be listed on the birth certificate if he is not at the hospital? Is there any paperwork I can do in advance to list him as the child's father since there are extenuating circumstances?

The hospital will allow you to list him on the birth certificate. Later, he may seek an amended birth certificate or file a paternity case if he contests that he is the father.
