Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Elder Marriage Rights

Two elder residents of Florida are planning to get married (ages 83 and 92, respectively). What do they stand to lose financially i.e. SS benefits and would the marriage automatically nullify existing wills and established power of attorney? Thank you.

Re: Elder Marriage Rights

There will be a change in their SS amounts. I am not sure of the exact amounts, but definitely less per month. They should have new Wills drafted since there is a major change in their lives and at their age they should consider reveiwing their power of attorney documents to ensure that they have the proper person to act in their place and stead if needed. The marriage does not nullify these documents but they should be changed to be current.
